Some souls are too powerful for death to cheat them. Their body may die, but that soul will not be stripped down to an "energy" to give life. It will be reborn, yes, but intact and remembering their past life.
Reincarnated.
Only the strongest souls survive. History's greatest heroes, most infamous villains, and many a person between. They're the same person...in a new body.
Or maybe you're one of the 'normals', and you shouldn't be ashamed of that. You don't have memories of horrific deaths, you don't still hear the voice of God, you don't have to live with going down in history as a bad guy. You don't have to lie about who you are to keep out of an asylum. Your story will be belived. You can - and probably will - live without ever knowing the truth.
