Jane had been in this cabin for nearly two weeks, and so far hadn't even talked to either of her two roommates. Or even bothered to admit that they existed. She spent all of her days either in the barn with Tako, with her psychiatrist or social worker, or taking long walks with her two Pit Bull terriers, Jethro and Ginevra. Even now she wanted to do just that, but Tako was taking a nap, and it was raining outdoors.
So she sat down on her bed, took a straw out of her bag, and grabbed her bony knees, wincing lightly at the thought of needing to eat something again. She just wasn't hungry. Why did she need to keep eating? Why couldn't she just curl up and sleep. But no. She had to keep living. And she knew that. Not for herself of course... but for Tako, Jethro, Ginevra, and her mini rex rabbit Teddy.
She looked over at them now. Teddy was in his little hutch in the corner, nibbling on a piece of lettuce. Jethro was stretched out in his crate, the door open, a slow snore emitting from this throat. Ginevra was getting a drink of water, then slowly started walking towards the slender girl on the twin bed with the plain white sheets and hand crafted quilt.
Jane patted the bed and Ginevra leaped up on top, lying her head on her knees, her big eyes looking up at Jane, wondering why they weren't outside. Jane smiled softly, stroking her beautiful dog's chocolate head, and gave her a kiss on the nose.
Not today girl.
She was due to start work in the next week... she hadn't yet recieved an actual date yet... but it was soon. She already had the scrubs... and was mentally and physically ready... but the veterinarian was male... would her nerves be able to take it? She hoped so.
She closed her eyes. Maybe if she dreamed her fears away... they would dissapear... maybe.
