BREEDArappaloosa.
HEIGHT15.2 hh.
APPEARANCELucci (loo-chi) is pretty average in size for her breed--standing at 15.2 hands--although she is quite a bit on the light side in terms of bone. Her legs are full and strong enough, though--especially her hind ones, which are incessantly prepared to spring. Like the Arabian she’s inherited half of her gene-pool from, Lucci’s skull is beautifully tapered, and her neck always arched and fine. She's a red roan blanket, with lots of color and mottling, only owing to her fiery charm. Because Astrophel has found enjoyment in keeping her mane and tail short, Lucci tends to have this perpetual, filly-esque look to her. While her frosty blanketing extends all the way up and down her back, the cream color seems to pour into her tail, leaving the top of it nearly blonde, while the end of it becomes ignited again--like a reverse fox-tail. All in all, Lucciola is a wiry little thing, ready to shoot off like the firecracker she is.
PERSONALITY[/blockquote]Lucci is notorious for what Astrophel has come to call her “Peter Pan Syndrom”--perpetual energy and a thirst for wild romps that resemble what a filly a quarter of her age would participate in. She’s definitely got a mind of her own, and she’ll be damned if anyone other than her will have the first or last say in anything concerning her. Astrophel, over the course of a few weeks or so, seems to have earned some of her respect--for one, he likes to run around like an idiot just as much as she does! The two also share the same overzealous drive. It isn’t that she’s got a bad temperament--it isn’t that at all; but she does require a little more than a touch up when it comes to manners and work-ethics. Otherwise--when she’s tired or in an uncommonly lazy or affectionate mood, that is--Lucci displays the potential to be a relatively sweet and mild little thing.
OWNER[/blockquote]Astrophel Bianchi.
HISTORYPiccola Lucciola (formerly only known as “Lucy”) was born and reared on a small-time ranch that specialized in leisure and lesson horses of all breeds. Her early life was spent kicking it back and playing, just like any other young equine; and around the age of one and a half, she began the breaking-in phase. Because she was--has always been, and probably always will be to some extent--willful, it took her a little longer than a majority of the other fillies and colts her age; but, by and by, she became a pretty decent casual mount.
She remained a leisure horse on her birth ranch until a few months into her fifth year. Like many estates at the time, the stables she had been a part of for so long began to go under financially; and, in order to save the more obedient animals, naturally wily horses like “Lucy” were advertised for anyone who wanted to take them on.
About a week and a half after she began appearing in the classified ads, a group of young guys traveling around in a big tour bus came to the ranch, and one in particular seemed enamored with her. At first, he was refused, because he lacked a stable estate for such a creature, and looked quite distraught himself. The owner didn’t trust them, and turned them away.
A day later, he received a visit from the young man again, along with an officer.
They explained that this “Astrophel Bianchi” was interested in buying the horse with the intention to put her up on land he was going to be staying at for quite some time, because he was being sent there for a probation sentence and a rehabilitation program. Finding himself experiencing a change of heart, the owner made Mr. Bianchi promise to at least assure the mare a good home when he was finished, if he wasn‘t able to keep her himself when all was said and done. Astro was more than happy to oblige and, after a transaction and a handshake, “Lucy“ became “Piccola Lucciola,” or “Little Firefly.”
